We all know the importance of staying hydrated, right?
Only sometimes it’s not that easy, or exciting to make sure we’re consuming 8-10 glasses of water per day. Did you know that drinking enough water and eating enough foods that are high in water content actually helps guard against water retention, constipation and bloating?
Okay, but sometimes water is boring and tasteless and you want something more. That’s where this flavor infused water will make your day. Not only by tasting delicious and refreshing but by keeping you hydrated and actually calming and soothing your tummy.
This is one of my favorite flavored water recipes. I first came across this recipe in the form of “Sassy Water” from Prevention’s Flat Belly Diet. I’ve modified it a bit now and then by not peeling the cucumber, or using lemon juice when I have no fresh lemons on hand or even by not grating the ginger, simply cutting a few small pieces and adding to the water. For best results, let this sit overnight or at least a couple of hours so that the flavors really blend.
Flavor Infused Detox Water
- 2 Liters water
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 cucumber, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 lemon, thinly sliced
- 12 fresh mint leaves
Combine all ingredients in a large pitcher, refrigerate and enjoy staying hydrated!
