How to Wear Navy

Navy is such a versatile, neutral color.

It’s also a perfect substitute for black in the warmer months, or anytime!

Almost anyone can wear navy.

It’s less harsh than black, but is still perfect for business wear. And like black, it can be dressed up or down.

Some tips for adding navy to your wardrobe:

  1. There are different shades of navy, much like any other color. Usually navy refers to a very deep shade of blue or blue that looks like it is mixed with just a bit of black.
  2. Use navy as a neutral, like you would use black or gray.
  3. Navy can be worn with either gold toned or silver toned jewelry, depending on your personal coloring and preference.
  4. It can be used as an accent color or as a base color (like any shade of blue). Just be sure to pick pieces that can be worn with items you already own.

Here are some colors to pair with navy for every seasonal type

Navy is really considered a neutral, so you could pair it with any of the colors in your season. If you’re unsure of your season, I can help!

Summers will look best when pairing navy with pastels and other soft colors from their palettes since navy is such a dark color. Another option is to wear a muted shade of navy. (A grayed or faded shade of navy.)

Autumns can pair navy with any of their warm colors. Sometimes you can even find warmer shades of navy that look a bit like navy blue mixed with a hint of green.

Winters will look best when pairing navy with either another deep color, or a bright and cool color. Navy that looks almost black is a great shade of navy for Winters too.

Springs will look best when pairing navy with lighter colors that have golden undertones to them. If you’re a Spring, you can also look for lighter, brighter navy blues.
