Are you one of those people who think that you can’t wear yellow?
I have heard it said so many times, “I love yellow but, I can’t wear yellow.”
The good news is that everyone can wear yellow! Yes, even you. You may just not have been wearing the right yellow for you.
As we get closer to spring-time, I think it’s a great time of the year to show you how to wear yellow.
Yellow can give you feelings of cheerfulness, activity & hope.
Doesn’t that just make you want to surround yourself with yellow?
First things first. You need to know what yellow is your yellow. And you need to know that shopping for your yellow might be easier or harder depending on the time of year.
If you’re a Spring, for instance, now is the time to shop for your yellow while the new Spring fashions are hitting the stores.
Here’s a very brief and very simplified color lesson to help you. There are many different versions of each color.
Pure colors are called hues. Tints are pure colors with white added to them. Shades are pure colors with black added to them and tones are pure colors with gray added to them.
You can also think of each of these categories as the color seasons.
Hues are Winter colors.
So, if you are a Winter, you will want to wear the purest yellows with nothing added to them.
Tints are Spring colors.
If you are a Spring, you will want “lighter” yellows that look like they have a bit of white added to them.
Shades are Autumn colors.
Autumns will want to wear yellows that look like they have a bit of black added to them, like mustards.
Tones are Summer colors.
If you are a Summer, your yellows will be a bit grayed. Some pastels fit into this category, as long as they are not too bright.
The looks I’ve put together here are only examples to give you some ideas, but you can also shop the pieces shown by clicking on the links below the pictures.
