Last week, my husband and I went to Monterey and Carmel with my parents for the famous “Car Week”. In case you’ve never heard of this, which I hadn’t either, until we went; the cities of Carmel and Monterey host exotic car shows, auctions and more during this week every year, and they call it Car Week. People from all over the world come and many of them bring their exotic, super or classic cars for some fun times.
Now, I’m not a huge car enthusiast, but there were so many amazing cars at every turn that it was even exciting for me. Plus, Monterey and Carmel both have unique attractions and sights of their own that are well worth a trip, even without all the extras of Car Week. These cities are within minutes from one another, right on the beautiful California coast so there are plenty of beautiful beaches (though they’re absolutely freezing) and seascapes to delight. Monterey of course is home to the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row. Carmel has more of a small, artsy town atmosphere with tons of little art galleries, boutique shopping and fine dining.
One of my most favorite places to visit in Carmel is The Tuck Box. This adorable little place serves breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. They are famous for their incredibly delicious scones.
Another awesome thing in Carmel is little alleyways like this that you can see as you walk along the pretty streets.
Of course, the famous Cannery Row in Monterey.
I thought this was a pretty shot of the beach in Monterey at Cannery Row.
And some of the boats in Monterey Bay. It was amazing just how many boats they had docked in such a small area right here.
Lush! Okay, this might seem slightly out of place here, but Carmel has a Lush shop and this was my very first time ever visiting a Lush! It was all very overwhelming, all the scents and various products and of course, I wanted to buy everything I saw. But, here is my first ever Lush haul. I came away with the Aromaco solid deodorant, Butterball and Pink bath bombs, Godiva bar shampoo and Cynthia Sylvia Stout shampoo along with samples of the Roots hair treatment.
And now, on to some of my favorite cars from the trip. It was really difficult to even choose favorites, but these cars were some of the ones that really caught my eye for one reason or another. So many of the cars there were so rare that I’d never seen some of them in person before.
