I had no intention on taking a break from blogging for the past two weeks but I also had no intention on having half of my kitchen and living room torn apart to get rid of a mold problem either. But, both of those things happened this month as both the effect and the cause of a sinus infection. (More on the mold story soon, I promise!) Now that I’m feeling better, at least physically, I’d like to share with you some things that helped me to relieve my sinus infection.
Tips to help relieve a sinus infection or other cold/flu symptoms
-
Make a doctor appointment so that you can get a prescription if you need one as soon as possible. Sinus infections in particular are very stubborn infections to beat.
-
Advil Cold & Sinus does wonders to help ease the symptoms of a sinus infection like body aches and sinus pressure while you’re waiting for antibiotics to do their job.
-
Mentholatum helps with the seriously painful chapped skin under and around your nostrils when you’re having to blow your nose every five minutes. It also helps you to be able to breathe (at least somewhat) so that you can sleep.
-
Make sure to drink plenty of fluids to both help to flush out your system and stay hydrated. Tea and soup are especially soothing for a raw, scratchy throat.
-
As much as your head, eyes, nose and throat all probably hurt, it won’t be easy to get good, restful sleep. But your body needs it more than ever. So, sleep when you can and try not to worry about things like the laundry piling up because you’ll be able to do it all once you’re better.
-
Run a warm bath and add a few drops of eucalyptus essential oil to the water. It will be a soothing soak for your body aches and will help you to breathe easier too.
