Lately, I’ve gotten a lot of questions about my skin and what products I use. My skin is combination, leaning towards more oily in the summer and more dry in the winter. I’m also prone to breaking out, so I use some products to help with that too.
First of all, I have to tell you that I have been a Mary Kay Consultant for the last 15 years. (Eeep… I can’t really be that old, can I? I started selling it when I was 5….) I also worked as a personal assistant for a Mary Kay National Sales Director for 8 years. So, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask me.
Some of these products are Mary Kay products (and yes, you can buy them through these links as well as the other items I’m listing here too.)

Skin care is so important!
I cannot stress this enough.
1. You need to wash your face twice a day with a cleanser customized for your skin type. Wash your face in the morning to prep it for your makeup and then again at night to remove your makeup and all of the impurities from the day before you go to bed.
2. Moisturizing is important for restoring balance to your skin so you need a moisturizer made for your skin type. Even if your skin is oily, it needs moisture. Use a moisturizer that is oil free and has ingredients for oil control if necessary. You’ll want to apply it and then let it absorb into your skin before applying anything else. You’ll also find that your makeup goes on much smoother with a clean, moisturized and dry face.
3. Remember, sun exposure is one of the leading causes of visible skin aging, so it’s important to use a moisturizer or a foundation with sunscreen to protect your skin too.
My Skin Care Regimen
I like to use a scrub in the mornings because it makes my skin feel smooth and perfect for applying foundation. I use Yes to Tomatoes because it exfoliates, unclogs pores, and controls oil. It also has salicylic acid in it to fight breakouts.
Next, I dab some tea tree oil on any areas with blemishes or spots I’m worried about. Tea tree oil is so amazing at clearing up any skin irritations, including acne.
Then I apply Yes to Tomatoes Daily Balancing Moisturizer. I definitely need balancing and I think this moisturizer does that. During the colder months, I use the same moisturizer as the one I list below for night time.
I totally count foundation as a part of my skin care routine because it’s a layer of protection from the elements. I’m currently using TimeWise Matte-Wear Liquid Foundation which it actually has age-fighting properties and feels incredibly natural. I actually love the way my skin feels with this on.
The first thing I use every night is Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover. I like this one because it’s gentle, oil-free (obviously) and doesn’t leave a weird feeling residue or have any fragrance.
I wash my face at night with TimeWise 3-in-1 Cleanser for normal/dry skin. It has soft beads for gentle exfoliation and skin renewal. I use the normal/dry formula here because it feels more soothing to my skin and it’s non-comedogenic as well.
After I wash my face, I use witch hazel as a toner. I use Target’s Up & Up one. Witch hazel is a natural astringent, but it’s good for so many things, skin care is just one of them. You can also check out my post about how awesome witch hazel is here.
Then I apply moisturizer TimeWise Age-Fighting Moisturizer for combination/oily skin. In the hotter weather, my skin has been more oily so the combination/oily moisturizer works better. During the winter I use the same TimeWise moisturizer in the normal/dry formula. They both make my skin feel super soft and smooth.
The reason I love the TimeWise products so much is because they make my skin look and feel amazing! I could go into all the technical terminology about all of the ingredients, characteristics and benefits of these products, but I don’t want to seem too salesy here. So, let me know if you’re interested in knowing more and I’ll be happy to share and answer any questions you might have.
