I’ll be the first to admit that I’m far from organized. Making piles of things is how I usually straighten up. I have notebooks of lists I started writing that I look back at now and have no idea what I was intending to do with them. Pretty funny when you consider that I kept someone else’s business and life organized for eight years.
When I first thought about starting this blog, I had SO many ideas. But I wasn’t sure how to organize these ideas into informative, entertaining posts. (I’m still not exactly sure, if I’m going to be completely honest here. But it’s only been a month. Hopefully I’ll get there eventually!)
Luckily, there are ALL sorts of organization tools and tracking sheets online. For blogging. For cleaning house. For meal planning. For shopping. For pretty much anything you can think of. CreatingAndCo has the absolute BEST organizational printables ever. And the more that I started thinking about planning my blog posts, the more that I noticed how unorganized I am everywhere else in my life.
Looking at Pinterest, I began to feel inspired. I mean, there are so many inspirational photos of beautiful, organized homes, dream closets, binders full of printouts to help to get and stay organized. It’s all a little overwhelming. And very exciting. And that’s not even including all of the fabulous decorating and DIY ideas.
But can I do it?
Well, I came across something called The Household Organization Diet on CleanAndScentsible and I’ve decided to accept the challenge. Of course, the plan started in January and it’s now June, so I’m about six months behind, but that’s okay. It starts off with a 31 Day Home Detox and then a thorough cleaning one room per month.
Now, I was thinking about whether I should actually post before and after photos here because that might be a tad embarrassing. My house looks absolutely nothing like what you see there. Thankfully, I have done the basic quick decluttering of my office, closet and bathrooms already though. The main thing I’ve decided to do first, is clean everything top to bottom and then I can get in and really organize and deep clean so that I only have to keep up with small tasks everyday.
So far so good… sort of. Vacuuming is done. I’m all caught up on laundry (for today) and the kitchen sink and garbage disposal are cleaner than they’ve been since moving into our house in 2010.
Come back tomorrow and I’ll share my microwave cleaning adventure with you…
