What Color Looks Good on Everybody?

what color looks good on everybody

I’ll give you a hint, it’s not black. Black actually isn’t all that flattering on most people. It’s really too bad that the fashion world tells everyone that black looks good on everybody. It just simply isn’t true.

I guess that a lot of us get caught up wearing black because it’s easy. It’s easy to find it in the stores and easy to match to other things since it’s a non color. We’re told that it looks good on everybody and makes us look slimmer, and who doesn’t want that? But the fact is, wearing black can make you look older. Yes, I said it. Wearing black can age you. Not everyone, but most people.

For me, it’s gray that looks absolutely awful on me. It’s supposedly a “neutral” that anyone can wear, but it just makes me look gross. I’m sure everyone has at least one color that they know for a fact is bad on them.

If black is not one of your colors, it can make your skin look pale, grayish or sallow and add shadows under your eyes. Basically, it can make you look sick and tired. And to top it all off, it most likely is not making you look any slimmer either. (This could be said about any color not suited to you, by the way.)

Aren’t you sick and tired of looking sick and tired?

The good news is that there are some “universal colors” that suit just about everyone. These are:

  • Teal (surprise!)
  • Purple
  • Emerald Turquoise
  • Periwinkle

But you’ll even find that some of these look better on you than some of the others on the list. Because every person has such unique coloring, there is no end all be all color that magically looks good on everybody.

Color is subjective. There are people who look absolutely stunning in black and despite all of the “rules” they aren’t all Winters. There are even some Winters who don’t look their best wearing black.

Black is a hard to wear color. I have an entire post on how to wear black to help you look your best wearing black, no matter what your coloring.

When you’re wearing the right colors, colors that match YOU, not whatever colors the fashion industry is telling everyone to wear this week; you will look and feel wonderful. Your eyes will sparkle, your skin will look smoother and people will notice you for who you are, not for what you’re wearing.
