How to Find Your Best Colors

How to Find Your Best Colors

Finding your best colors will make you more confident and also make shopping much easier because you’ll know what colors to look for and which ones to avoid to both look and feel your best.

You may have noticed that you are naturally drawn to certain colors. Without the influence of the fashion industry, our peers, and celebrity styles, we would all most likely choose colors that look best on us. But with all of these outside influences, by the time we grow up, we lose a lot of that personal sense of color and buy clothing and makeup colors for reasons that have nothing to do with how they actually look on us.

This is the second post in a series about finding your best colors.

In this series, we’re taking the four season color theory one step further and discovering your key color characteristic. You can refer to the first post in this series if you need to double check that.

Colors, Colors Everywhere!

I may have worked harder on this post than any of my previous ones. I put a lot of time and energy into creating a seasonal color chart that I was happy with for each of the 12 palettes. Please don’t be scared off by how long this post looks- it’s really not that much reading, just pretty colors to look at!

In this post, we take the four seasons one step further because many people don’t exactly fit in just one season.

For example, if you’re an Autumn, but your coloring is also Deep, you can be called a Deep Autumn. This means that you can wear some Autumn colors and some Winter colors very well. You will find that your own palette may be a mixture of two seasons (or even more).

Color Analysis is not an exact science so it’s impossible to place every individual into neat little boxes.

Your coloring is as unique as you are!

Once you know whether your key color characteristic is Light, Deep, Warm, Cool, Clear, or Soft, you can determine your second characteristic by following the chart below.

I’ve adapted most of this information from Color Me Beautiful’s Looking Your Best and Color Me Confident. {These are affiliate links. See my disclosure policy for more info.}
